  1. I’ve been using Nitroshare up until now for sending files between my Macintosh, Linux and Windows computers. It’s not been a perfect solution as received files on the Linux version show up as an empty folder with the filename and the filename itself is appended with “-2” in the name. I’ve created a shell script to clean up these received files (deleting empty folders and removing “-2” from filenames) but it is an extra step I could do without.

I just got a new (to me) computer set up with a fresh installation of Linux Mint. Nitroshare wasn’t available as an easy install in the software manager and downloading it from the site involves having to build the thing from source code, a skill I don’t possess.

I tried using Warpinator and once I saw a YouTube video describing how to set it up and use it, I now have my replacement for Nitroshare with one hitch – Warpinator isn’t yet available for my Macintosh so for now I’ll have to continue using Nitroshare with that and the other computers.

I hope the Macintosh version of Warpinator isn’t too far over the horizon.
