Where Do Sticky Notes Get Saved On A Mac?

Normally sticky notes are saved in the “Stickies” folder. To access existing sticky notes, you can go to the StickiesDatabase, which is located in the library folder. Unless you have changed the default directory, your notes should be there. In short, your directory should look like “user folder/Library/StickiesDatabase”.

Undoubtedly it is an amazing tool to retrieve your lost data easily. And, using this application is pretty simple and user-friendly.

By just scrolling, you can go back to the past of your saved files and select what you need to recover.

Recover a Deleted Sticky Note on Mac with Third-Party Software

Although Apple always recommends using its own tool, sometimes third-party tools are the best possible solution. Most recovery tools work in the same way. However, I suggest using ibeesoft or youdot. I find these two useful and trusted applications.

  • Step-1: After installing the application, launch it.
  • Step-2: Select the file type (Since you are looking for sticky notes, you should select “document”).
  • Step-3: Then locate the directory which you want to scan.
  • Step-4: After doing that, click on scan, and after a while, you will see all the deleted files on the targeted directory will be visible here.
  • Step-5: Finally, you can select and restore the specific files that you want to recover.

Even after doing all of these processes, you may not be able to recover the file in certain circumstances, which are-

  1. If you change the OS
  2. If the file was deleted a long time ago.

Conclusion

Learning how to recover a deleted sticky note on Mac is not a difficult task. As you can see, it may take 5-10 mins if you follow the instructions properly.

If none of these methods to recover stickies on Mac works, it’s because you’ve changed the OS or the file was created a very long time ago. As a result, the mac disk erased that data and overwritten it with new data.

However, the methods I mentioned above are likely to solve your problem in almost all cases.
